The Axon LU 1200 is a flexible 5-axis machine, perfectly suited for manufacturing complex parts in a single setup.
Whether it is simple 5-sided machining or complex geometries requiring 5-axis interpolation, with the Axon LU 1200 you are always perfectly equipped for all current machining requirements.
The machine design enables simultaneous 5-axis machining of workpieces or 5-sided machining using the integrated hydraulic axis brakes.

The SINUMERIK 840D sl is rightly considered the benchmark in the premium CNC class. High CNC performance as well as flexibility and openness are the basis for almost every machine concept. Powerful hardware architecture and intelligent control algorithms, as well as top-class drive and motor technology, ensure high dynamics and accuracy during machining.

For nearly 30 years, TNC controls have proven themselves in daily use on milling machines, machining centers, and drilling machines. This is due on the one hand to the workshop-oriented programmability and on the other hand to the compatibility of programs from the respective predecessor controls.

The new 5-axis machining center U 6 – 5X is designed for the complex production of intricate parts and molds in 5 axes.
The GANTRY design provides high rigidity and concentration of accelerated masses. This provides the prerequisite for its excellent dynamic design. AC motors in the rotary and swivel axes correspond to the latest state of development in highly dynamic machine tool construction. The machine frame of the U 6 – 5X consists of heavily ribbed “Meehanite cast iron”.
The entire construction is characterized by high thermal stability. This enables dynamic loading of the machine and guarantees low-vibration running, optimal accessibility with a larger working area, and a reduced footprint requirement.

The machine bed was designed as a monoblock cast construction. All supporting elements were integrated into the bed block. The cross support and the support carrier were carefully designed with minimal deflection in mind.
Accordingly, the optimal distance between the roller linear guides was calculated and optimized through precise measurements. The end result is a machine with the highest possible stability and machining precision. For the X and Y axes, and Z axis, high-precision linear guides are used.
This design enables fast and precise guidance of the table even under maximum load and guarantees the elimination of the “stick-slip effect”. Long service life with low maintenance requirements as well as high rapid traverse and feed speeds are further advantages of this system. Feed movements in the individual axes are realized via double-preloaded ball screws and stable spindle nuts.
All axes are driven by powerful digital AC axis drives. These are the most important prerequisites for contour-accurate milling results. Corresponding measuring systems from Heidenhain ensure high repeatability and positioning accuracy.

The machine design enables full simultaneous 5-axis machining of workpieces, as well as 5-sided machining using the integrated hydraulic axis brakes (axis clamping torques up to 4,410 Nm).
The work table features a faceplate with a diameter of 650 mm.
The swivel bridge housed in the counter bearing, and thus the optimally integrated axis pivot points of the table, allow for the machining of workpieces weighing up to 300 kg.
A full 360° movement can be performed in the rotary axis.
The swivel axis also enables the machining of complex parts, as the table can tilt up to + 50° / – 110°. The latest Heidenhain iTNC 530 control enables full integration as the 4th and 5th CNC axes. The zero point is automatically swiveled along.
The swivel axis drive (B-axis) features an AC motor. This design increases the acceleration and machining accuracy of the workpieces.

All machining centers in the VZG series are equipped with control cabinet cooling. This ensures trouble-free operation of the sensitive electronic components even at extreme outside temperatures.

Only high-precision roller linear guides are used as guide elements for all axes. To increase dynamic machine stability, the distance between the guide rails was additionally expanded by up to 25% and is now far above the general level common in the market.

For the trouble-free operation of the machines, it is necessary, among other things, to ensure a stable compressed air supply. If several consumers are switched on simultaneously in the air network, this usually leads to a short-term pressure drop and possible shutdown of the running machine. These fluctuations are absorbed and compensated for by the additional pressure accumulator directly on the machine.

The integrated automatic tool changer has a capacity of 32 tools. During the tool change, the tools are transferred directly from the tool magazine to the spindle by means of a double gripper.
Change times have been significantly reduced and are approx. 2 s. Tool selection is bi-directional via the shortest path.
The tool magazine is located outside the workspace, thus ensuring optimal protection for the tools. Loading of the tool magazine can be done from the outside and can therefore be carried out parallel to machining.
The setup times of the machine can thus be significantly reduced. It is essential to ensure that, according to DIN 1940, only tool holders and tools with a balancing quality of G = 2.5 are used (n > 6000 rpm).

The digital main drive guarantees very high torque in the lower speed range if required, as well as constant power values at high speeds. Since both power and torque specifications depend on the duty cycle, short-term peak performance is possible without overloading the machine or reducing speed.
To reduce the thermal effects of the motor on the spindle and the headstock, our motors are thermally separated from the headstock via a cooled radiator plate.
In addition, all work spindles are cooled via a separate cooling circuit. This further reduces the possible thermal expansion of the spindle and thus increases machining precision.

For optimal milling results, all 5-axis machines must be calibrated at regular intervals. The correlation between the linear movements of the machine and the spatial shifts of the zero point due to the rotation and swiveling of the table axes make calibration essential.
As an alternative to time-consuming manual measurement and correction of individual axis values, we offer an optional system for automatic measurement and self-calibration of the machine. The calibration cycle runs automatically and the corresponding correction values are independently transferred to the control. Measuring the machine is completed in a few minutes.

All work spindles are cooled via a separate cooling circuit. The installed cooling unit not only ensures a low operating temperature of the spindle regardless of the ambient temperature but also guarantees its thermal stability regardless of load changes. The cooling circuit is thermostatically monitored.

The control panel in all machines can be adjusted in two planes (rotation and swivel).
This allows the machine operator to optimally adapt to any body height and guarantees fatigue-free programming.

The lower spindle bearing features a special sealing air ring. The overpressure in the sealing air ring increases the service life of the spindle and provides an effective, proven shield for the lower spindle bearings against penetrating milling dust and cooling water, which lead to bearing damage over time.
